MAP PROGRAM

ABOUT THE PROGRAM


To be eligible to enter this MAP program you must hold either an OSSD (Ontario Secondary School Diploma), a transcript demonstrating equivalency, or have successfully completed a GED. Pre-entry assessment tests* in Reading
Comprehension and Problem Solving will be administered to all candidates with the above entrance qualifications.

* (If you have received 66% or better in advanced Math & English courses, you will be exempted from the pre-entry assessment test. If you have a transcript from a College or University, your credentials can be evaluated by the Admissions staff.)

Once enrolled, you will spend 36 weeks at Centennial College's School of Transportation of which 32 weeks will be spent in class and labs plus 4 weeks in a work placement with either Mack or Volvo dealers or fleet customers.

During the 32 week in-class and lab portion you will study seven main subjects, Diesel Fuel Systems, Diesel Engines, Electrical, Work Place Practices, Hydraulics, Suspension Steering and Brakes and Gear Trains. To successfully complete the Mack and Volvo Program you must maintain an overall average of 75%.

Upon successful completion of this 36 week program you will then be placed at either a Mack or Volvo dealer or fleet customer completing the apprenticeship component of your training.
